Selling a Root Spray Without Hurting Your Business with Missy Megginson

I’ve been around doing hair for a minute.  Eighteen years to be exact. Facebook didn’t exist when I started, we didn’t balayage, we didn’t do vivids, and we didn’t do teasy lights.  I guess you could say a lot has changed right?!  Right!  But, some things haven’t.  Like, haven’t changed one bit.  And that is, client behavior when it comes to grey coverage.

Let me just let the cat out of the bag right here and then I’ll tell you all of the reasons why.  Retailing a temporary root spray or powder to your clients will ABSOLUTELY NOT hurt your business. It will actually HELP your business in multiple ways!

Don’t believe me?

Here are two ways that retailing Alfaparf Milano Professional’s Invisible Root Spray –and Powder– can help your grow your business and your profits.

Retail Profit

Selling a retail item is never about selling an actual product (or at least it shouldn’t be).  It is about solving a problem that your client has.  Having a solution to a problem that will never go away (roots showing between visits) allows you to not only come in as the Grey Coverage Super Hero Problem Solver *official title*, but it also is a consistent item that you can count on your client purchasing over and over.

Solution Control

Leaving clients to their own devices to camouflage their grey between visits usually ends up in problems for them, and headaches for you!

I cannot even begin to tell you (and I’m sure you have stories to match mine) the number of times I’ve had to “fix” hair because a client just thought they could do a quick “touch up” between visits.  The box color aisle can be misleading, know this.  But, if we don’t have an offering for our guests to keep them from going down the aisle in desperation, then we are setting ourselves up for fixes galore.  No one wants to have a time allotment for a “root retouch” turn into a color correction.

I have a feeling that you might be thinking one more thing.  “What if this makes them come back less often?”  I don’t have any specific data for you, simply my almost 2 decades of experience.  Your 3-week retouch clients still try to camouflage the last week before their appointment the same way your 6-week clients do.

I am so freaking excited to have a new offering and solution for my guests between visits within the Alfaparf family now!  I can’t wait to hear how much your guests love it too!

Bye for now,
